Host Guidelines For A Guest Flyer At The Peoria RC Modelers Field
Any guest who wants to fly at the S&S Mini-Airport field under the supervision of
the Peoria RC Modelers club must comply with the rules.
A club member must host the guest. The member will follow this checklist.
1. Interview the guest. If the guest is found to be an experienced flyer,
proceed to #2. If the guest is not experienced, contact a club instructor to get
some help for the student.
2. The guest must know the field rules, which are posted with this checklist.
Have the guest read over the rules, and make sure the guest knows where
the boundaries of the flight area are.
3. Help the guest with the frequency board. Make sure the guest’s current
AMA card is clipped to the board when the frequency pin is removed.
4. Inspect the guest’s radio and airplane. If the plane has no flight history, or a
recent crash repair, perform a range check. Collapse the transmitter antenna,
walk away from the plane with the stub pointed at the plane, and note the
distance at which servos begin to jitter. If less than about 100’, the receiver or
radio needs attention. Check for loose hinges. Evaluate the engine noise.
5. If the guest and equipment meet these standards (AMA membership, flying
experience, good equipment and an understanding of the field rules) then
have the guest sign the log, and sign and date as host.
